A Jolly Good View too.

Winter Digging: Inverness Geoff’s “Jolly Good Fun”

After our call-to-arms post for you lot to submit your winter projects, Geoff from Inverness sent this in the other day, named “the Jolly Good Fun Trail” it seems. Scotland is a pretty good blank slate to work with – quite a few wooded mountains and not too many people makes a good start – as long as the snow doesn’t slow you down too much! Here’s what he had to say.

This track’s got a lot of good corners!

Hi Dirt Mag,

I’ve been working on this trail for about 8/9 months now. I literally haven’t stopped and missed out on this summers ride. As you may see from the photos, this isn’t just a raked line or a few jumps. I’m building this to a pretty professional standard, lots of bench, retained boulder berms and proper drainage with piping. It’s set to be one of the best trails around Inverness.

There’s nothing like a good water feature – especially in Scotland.

Fingers crossed I’ll be finished this summer and it’ll be a good 300m descent over about 1-1.5km long on the slopes of the very photogenic Loch Ness.

I don’t have any good photos at the moment, only photos of the trail being built. And unfortunately there’s no hope of any anytime soon as the trails are snowed under at the mo.

Anyways, enough rambling. Here’s some photos.

– Geoff
