VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR KOKANEE CRANKWORX 2007

Volunteers come from all over the world to take part, it’s better than McDonalds!

WHISTLER, BC, June 26, 2007 – Kokanee Crankworx Mountain Bike Festival organizers are looking for upwards of 200 volunteers to participate in this year’s festival from July 21-29. Volunteers can do a variety of jobs and get involved in several aspects of the competition. Volunteers are an integral part of Kokanee Crankworx and it is their participation that makes this event a success. Sign-up to volunteer at: crankworx.com.

Kokanee Crankworx has seen extraordinary volunteer participation from local Whistler residents, people from around British Columbia, Canada and the United States and from the farthest corners of the world. This year volunteers are confirmed from places as far as South Africa, South America, and Australia. In order to qualify for all of the volunteering perks like the rocking after party, participants must work a minimum of two six-hour shifts during Kokanee Crankworx. There are 900 shifts to be filled over the nine-day festival.

“Volunteering for Kokanee Crankworx is a great way to get involved in the community and in extreme sporting events. This experience would look great on a resume for people wanting to get involved with the 2010 Winter Olympic Games,” says Christa Vandeburg, Kokanee Crankworx Logistics Supervisor.

Volunteer Positions Include:
Sport Crew- help set up for the races, maintain track and help with tear down.
Stage Crew- help set-up and tear-down the stage, assist in band changes and help the technical crew with lighting and sound.
Competitor Relations- act as a liaison between the staff and competitors during event registration and throughout the festival.
Media/VIP Accreditation Crew- responsible for the distribution of Media and VIP Accreditation, program guides and answering event and Whistler Village questions.
Expo Crew- help with set-up and tear-down of tents and ensure vendors have everything they need.
Logistics Assistant- help organizing volunteers and shifts. Ensure there are enough volunteers and they get to the appropriate stations for their shifts.

Volunteers who participate in a minimum of two six-hour shifts will be given a t-shirt, be entered in daily draws of industry swag and be invited to attend a special Volunteer appreciation wrap-up party.
