Ten of the best from Windham World Cup qualifying day through the lens of photographer Victor Lucas.
A lot of people are pretty happy to see the World Cup back in the USA. This is the first time the Final round has been in this country. Without doubt the great American hope is National Champ Aaron Gwin and he must be feeling all the attention, hopefully he can turn it into a positive thing.
Mick Hannah had a big crash today off the rock drop near the start of the course. Over the bars and onto his noggin, left him with concussion and a badly damaged shoulder. So unfortunately Mick is out for this race and maybe World Champs too.
Slipping in under the radar are the new Trek 2011 DH bikes, just a slightly tweaked colour scheme, but an all new frame with much bigger 'aero' downtube and some other detail changes.
Talking to Tracy Moseley this morning, she said this track might suit her - as its not long enough for her mind to wander off the task at hand! T-Mo was quickest by quite a margin, so there must be some truth in that.
Sam Blenkinsop really likes this course - loose and technical with plenty of speed. He qualified third, but there's no way he can catch Greg or Gee in the fight for the overall.
The crafty old dog Peaty surprises us all again with a late rise to form. This is certainly a track where his skills at carrying speed pay off. Could it be that he's been planning his year around a strong finish in time for the Worlds?!
The women's 4x overall is down to Anneke Beerten and Anita Molcik. According to my dodgey mathematics, Anneke needs at least a 2nd place to be sure of winning.
Jared Graves already wrapped up the series at the last round in Val di Sole. So obviously he won't be taking any big risks here, this event is all about picking up his World Cup Trophy and maybe psyching out his competitors for the Worlds next week.
For World Champ Caroline Buchanan this is only her second World Cup 4X this year. But its good to see her back and she must be very interested to see what kind of shape the other girls are in before MSA next week.
Anita Molcik could take the 4X overall if she wins here and Anneke ends up in 3rd or lower. Who knows, it will a nail biting final that's for certain.
