Here in Schladming they’ve been going crazy building hotels,
there’s big cranes all over the place. So I got myself a ride in one for a view of the 4-Cross course. Just over 30 seconds long, smooth and not too tech, it suited the bmxers fairly well.
Dan Atherton getting loose on the first turn. As you’d
expect when the course isn’t too challenging, this is where most of the action went down.
Somebody must have put a curse on 4X, every race seems to be
in the dark and raining. The rotten conditions kinda killed the atmosphere, but Romain Saladini was charging and ruled most of his races out of the gate.
Rafa Alvarez was racing with a dodgy wrist and went out in
the quarter finals, but his run of good luck continued when his closest points challenger, Guido Tschugg went out in the next heat. Alvarez got the series win.
Anneke Beerten had the series win in her hand-bag after the
last round in Canberra, but she wasn’t going to let anyone take an easy win and battled through the rain to take second place.
