Victor Lucas delivers seven French firecrackers from UCI World Cup #6 in La Bresse, France.
This morning Aaron Gwin seemed comfortable and relaxed while he warmed up for todays race, he was in a safe position and put in a solid run to take 3rd this afternoon. That was enough to give him the overall title with one round left to go in Val di Sole...[audio:http://cdn.coresites.factorymedia.com/dirt_new/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Aaron-lb1.mp3|titles=Aaron lb]
Tracy Moseley had a stormer of a race today, she was quicker all the way from the first split to the finish line with almost 5 seconds to spare ahead of Floriane. Tracy seems to have everything covered this year - XC, endurance, DH and even champagne chugging...
Greg Minnaar did everything right today and put in an amazing winning run, watching the screen while Fabien was in the hot seat and Greg was almost 4 seconds up on the 2nd split. It was nail biting stuff, basically everybody went nuts when Greg won. But Gwin is way ahead in the overall, leaving Greg and Gee fighting for 2nd in Val di Sole.
The pressure has been on Gee Atherton all season, there's no time to take it easy when you are fighting for every point you can get. He takes 2nd place today...[audio:http://cdn.coresites.factorymedia.com/dirt_new/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Gee.mp3|titles=Gee]
Fabien Barel has been on good form lately, good humour and he told us all today that he has been waiting to get back on the podium and show he has recovered from his leg injury last year. He managed that today and announced that after Val di Sole and Champery, he will be retiring from World Cup racing. It's been great Fabien, thanks for giving us some amazing races to watch over the years. World Cups won't be the same without you.
Monk likes to play a little poker and he's been trying to figure out who's got the best hand in the Trek team, Aaron already has 4 aces which isn't too bad (I think Monk had one up his sleeve in this photo)...[audio:http://cdn.coresites.factorymedia.com/dirt_new/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Monk.mp3|titles=Monk]
Floriane Pugin, or as her adoring French fans like to call her - 'the flying banana', took 2nd place today and put herself 150 points behind Tracy in the overall. She still has a chance for the overall in Val di Sole, so there's some good racing left this season.
