The French dominated on home turf. Dan Atherton (with a great 3rd place) was the only non-frenchy to break in to the top 7.
Big congratulations to Remy though, that’s his second victory on the trot in what is arguably the hardest mountain bike race that there is.
Tracy Moseley also did us Brits proud with a second place behind the legend that is Anne Caroline Chausson.
Of course not everyone manages to even qualify for the main race. The next fastest bunch of riders battle it out in the ‘Challengers’ race, then you have the ‘Amateurs’ race which is still a mass start event, before finally you have the ‘Affinity’ dregs who get given a timing chip and can set off in their own time. The results for all of these categories are below, but a special mention has to go out to Frank Schneider who took second place in the Challengers race aboard a singlespeed hardtail!
Oh, and if you’re wondering what happened to Nico Vouilloz…
For some reason I get the feeling that he wan’t too happy at that moment in time.
