Nant Gwrtheyrn News

Tom Fryer of Simply Downhill just beamed over the latest news from the Nant Gwrtheyrn DH venue.

The progress at the new North Wales Downhill venue has been going well. The track is now running well top to bottom and with the recent uplift days it has been bedding in nicely. Recently part of the Yeti Fox Racing Team and some of the Leisure Lakes riders dropped by for a visit before heading up to Fort William for the world cup. All the riders loved the track and were really impressed with the venue. Aaron Gwin described the the track as “sick” and compared it to a steeper version of the Andorra World Cup track.

The next uplift day is set for the 19th of June and is filling up fast. Simply downhill want to provide the best value uplift in the country so for your money you get to ride on a taped course, have more riding time than most uplift days and you get a bacon bap and drink from the onsite cafe.

The Simply Downhill @ Nant Gwrtheyrn race is being held on the 14th and 15th of August. We are using the old style of race weekend format and have two days of racing with prizes and BC points available both days. Sponsors so far include Purple Moose Brewery (local beer for all over 18 podiums), Howies, Revolution Bikes and O’neal with more to be confirmed. There will be a party atmosphere to the weekend with entertainment on Saturday evening in the onsite bar and function room.

Because of the nature of this venue it will be great to bring your family and friends as the course finishes right by the hard surfaced car park. The scenery is stunning and the beach is just a short walk away. With the onsite cafe and accommodation this will be a million miles away from standing about in a muddy field!
