Joe Parfitt & Mark Scott join the Wideopenmag Team

Wideopen Mag already have two great DH riders on their 2014 team in the shape of Rich Thomas and Jay Williamson, but they’ve just announced the addition of two more riders. Joining the other DH racers is Joe Parfitt, and then Mark Scott takes on the duty of racing enduro for the team. Here’s the official word on both the riders…

Welcome to the team young gun! Introducing Joe Parfitt

Ladies and gents, boys and girls – time to welcome the first of two new riders to the Wideopenmag team! We’re writing this fresh from a day of smashing incredible, dusty, loose trails out in Malaga with RoostDH.

We are delighted to welcome South Wales young gun Joe Parfitt to our downhill team line up. Joe is out in Spain with us at the moment and is already blowing us away with his riding.

Joe will be racing the British Downhill Series, regional races and a few IXS races… as well as getting wild in a mountain of photo and video shoots with us all season. At the ripe old age of 14, Joe has been riding downhill for just three years but has already stacked up some awesome results. In 2013 he raced his final year in juvenile and scored podiums in all but one of his 21 races. Most importantly though, he’s a super nice kid with bags of talent and someone we want to help get faster as he steps up to the youth category.

Joe has already jumped on board his new Nukeproof Pulse and been styled out with fresh Fox racing gear and will ride alongside Rich Thomas and Jay Williamson in 2014.

Chilling at RoostHQ after an awesome day of Spanish riding Joe told us “I’m super happy to be riding for Wideopen, I’ve ridden with the guys loads in the last year and I can’t wait to go racing with them. I’m having loads of fun already, the Nukeproof bike and Fox kit are amazing”.

We’d like to give a huge thanks to everyone that has helped out Joe get to this stage, not least his old man Jeff and his previous team manager Huw Lloyd-Lewis at Swift Racing. Also a huge thanks to Nukeproof, Fox and RoostDH. Our full lineup of 2014 sponsors will be announced shortly.

Good luck Joe!

Introducing Mark Scott…

We are super excited to welcome Scottish legend Mark Scott to the Wideopenmag family.

Where do we start with Mark? Mark is an overall SDA champion, a UK national champion, a Dragon Series champion, he’s raced World Cup downhill since he was 17 and he’s represented the UK at the World DH champs twice. In 2013 Mark made the big leap to Enduro and has taken off big time. He scored a 3rd overall at the UK Gravity Enduro Series and an awesome 27th at the World Enduro Series. We’re out in Spain with Mark at the moment and have spent the week watching him destroying gnarly trails on his 160mm Nukeproof Mega AM.

Mark will lead the charge for Wideopenmag at the UK Gravity Enduro Series, Enduro World Series and heaps of other events. He’ll also be providing tonnes of awesome content for the mag. He’ll race alongside the Wideopenmag DH team, made up of Rich Thomas, Jay Williamson and of course our new signing Joe Parfitt.

Chilling after another awesome day in the Spanish sun Mark told us “I’m stoked to be riding for Wideopenmag next year! I had a great season this year and I just want to get faster and step up everything in 2014. I’m loving my new Nukeproof and I’m running the sickest kit. I can’t wait to get stuck in!”.

Mark is already fully kitted out in Fox Racing race kit and on board a Nukeproof Mega AM 275. He’ll also be supported by Hope Technology, Conti Tyres and an awesome list of other sponsors that we’ll announce towards the end of the year.

Hotlines marketing manager Martin Astley said: “As we’ve expanded the Nukeproof range further into the enduro market it’s become ever more important for us to work with athletes at the top of the sport. I’ve had my eye on Mark throughout this year and I’m really happy to see him on a Nukeproof as part of the Wideopenmag team”.

Look out for Mark destroying a hill near you and in loads of Wideopenmag media from now on. Good luck mate!
