We popped down to Glyncorrwg yesterday and met up with Elmar from Sram who showed us the new Elixir CR Mag brakes and the Revelation fork, while Loughie from the Drop Off cafe showed us the new full fry-up breakfast, spot on.
These brake levers are on next year’s Elixir CR Mag brake, a new addition to the Avid range for 2010 mainly aimed at lightweight cross country racing. The levers have a new clamp with only one bolt saving a heap of weight around the clamp area. Being lightweight, the no-tools lever reach/pivot adjustment has been ditched for allen key reach adjuster and a fixed position lever pivot.
The pad contact adjuster is kept though, with a newly shaped composite lever blade. There will be a matchmaker available for these new lever clamps too, and the brakes come with all stainless hardware, Ti being reserved for the fabled Elixir XX brake that no-one knows anything about yet!
The 2010 Revelation slots in between the Reba and the Pike, it’s a lightweight 150mm fork available in 20mm or QR, more news later.
The main reason we went along apart for the breakfast was to snaffle the first set of 2010 Boxxer WC in the country, stay tuned for a full review once we’ve given them a proper hammering.
