Bodge it and Scarper
No, it's not the latest crud band on Z Brother Strictly Wars this is about bikes and spanners.
Worst Bodge vs Best Hack
This beauty is described as 'a bit special'. Its a cut and shut model, formed from the back end of a 2001 Foes DHS welded "BY A GRADE 2 AIRCRAFT WELDER AND STRENGTHENED INTERNALLY" to the front end of a 2012 Carrera. The Reason for sale? "To finance a kitchen aid for the wife"
This is for sale if you want it?
This could be yours! Its not a bad bead to be fair.
Also currently for sale are a pair of "Alpinestars Al mega EOS mountain bike E stay" frames. They are listed as having cracks but no mention is made of the quality of the welding repairs.
These beasts are not unique, I'm sure we have all seen similar horrors being ridden or for sale. Drop an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll add them on!
Tweaks & Hacks
At the other end of the spectrum are those little factory tweaks or hacks that pro mechanics have in abundance.
Heres one from Tracy Moseley's Enduro bike. Her mechanic Ray Waxham has this very neat cable management solution. A cable tie and some plastic tube neaten everything up nicely. I know what I'm doing to my bike next time I have a fettle.
T-MO's mechanic Ray Waxham has come up with this beauty of a hack for her Enduro bike.
Or how about lightening up your pedals like Sam Blenkinsop at the Champery World Champs in 2011
Sam Blenkinsop's drilled out pedals.
Then you could go to the absolute extreme. Like Trek with their bike warming booth to ensure the bike is warmed up just like the rider.
The TWR HotBox : a bike warmer for use at the top of the mountain prior to race start.
Let us have your neatest hacks and most factory tricks, fire an email to email@example.com and we will post them up.
