2013 Retrospective: Top 5 Enduro World Series Moments
Yesterday we took a look at the top World Cup moments of 2013, today we're taking a look at the Enduro World Series Top 5 moments.
Yesterday you saw our top five World Cup moments from 2013, and it seems only fitting that we now take a look at the top five Enduro World Series moments, from the first ever season of EWS racing. The amazing scenery was definitely one of the highlights for us and gave us incredible images like this one below, but we'll save space for more defining racing moments in our list!

Tracy Moseley on fire

Thankfully not literally on fire (the above image has been manipulated, for your information), but British women are on top form at the moment, with Rachel Atherton dominating in downhill and Tracy Moseley in enduro; she won 5 out of the 7 rounds of the EWS, and was only beaten by the formidable Frenchie, Anne-Caro Chausson.

With Tracy only finishing either first or second all year, she definitely deserves a spot on our top five EWS moments of 2013.
The young and successful

16 year old Martin Maes put in an incredible, and to be honest quite staggering, performance all year, with times right up there with the 'big guns'. He started out with a strong start, finishing 4th overall in Punta Ala, but went on to trump that in the final two rounds of the EWS by finishing in 3rd place. Quite astounding for a man of so few years.
Here's Martin in action at round 5 of the EWS in Whistler.
Martin still has two more seasons racing in the Junior category, surely we’re going to see even bigger things from this youngster?

Over the entire series the race times were incredibly close, but in the final round of the EWS in Finale Ligure there were only three seconds separating Jerome Clementz and Jared Graves after nearly 26 minutes of racing! The margin for error is so slim that it really could have come down to slipping a pedal or hitting a line a little bit wrong! Bonkers.[pdf url="http://cdn.coresites.factorymedia.com/dirt_new/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/finale-ligure-men.pdf" height="300"]
Who’s getting star struck?

This year we’ve seen an incredible amount of world class mountain bikers showing up to try their hand at enduro racing, and from just about every MTB discipline: from 4X through to XC and everything in-between. Not really a 'moment' as such, but the diversity of riders that have turned up to each of these events is just incredible.

All you need to do is take a look at the overall men's podium: a 4X World Champion, a DH World Champion and a newly-crowned Enduro World Champion. To name just a few of the MTB legends that have been at this races: Steve Peat, Nico Vouilloz, Jared Graves, Nino Schurter, Fabien Barel, Greg Minnaar, Anne Caroline Chausson, Tracy Moseley and Brian Lopes.
our highlights were a highlight (get it?)

At the end of each weekend there is one moment we always look forward to, and that is the day the DirtTV highlights come out. We know it sounds cheesy, but the Parkin brothers of Rob and John did an absolutely top job in covering the year of MTB for our enjoyment.

At the end of each race we had a 20-minute documentary of each round, which is more than just a highlights video; it is now something we can look back on and always be able to view the first ever year of the Enduro World Series.
We are proud to have been a media partner with the Enduro World Series and extremely proud of the fantastic coverage provided thanks to DirtTV and the Parkins. Now, sit back and look back through some of our favourite race recap vids (that'll be all of them!) while bringing in the New Year:
