Fox releases revolutionary Proframe helmet

The full face you've always wanted

We can’t be the only ones who always wished there was a full face you could climb as well as descend in. It looks like the Fox Proframe helmet will be the answer to our prayers.

The closest we’ve got to this in the past are the helmets with detachable chin guards but, unless you’re Cody Kelly, they aren’t the coolest things out there. Plus you actually have to stop and remove/fit the chin bar.

The Proframe is different. The chin bar isn’t removable because it simply doesn’t need to be. The huge vents in the chin guard make breathing as easy as if there was nothing there. There’s no compromise on safety here either, as it meets ASTM Downhill standards, the same as any other full face on the market, and comes with MIPS for rotational impact protection.

On top of this, the helmet boasts 23 vents and a visor that funnels air into them, keeping your head cool. Finally this thing is seriously light. At 750 grams, it’s the kind of thing you pick up too fast because you expect it to be heavier. It’s basically double the weight of a top-end open face but it feels exactly the same as one on your head.

Fox have kept the weight down using their Fox Varizorb© multi-density EPS and a carbon shell.

Mike Redding, Fox’s mtb sports’ marketing man, said: “Our downhill DNA sparked the creation of our first ever All Mountain focused full-face helmet. Over 2 years in the development process, the Proframe has been tested and proven by our elite team of Mountain Bike athletes. You’ll see it showcased in our upcoming full-length movie and throughout the year in races all over the world. We are excited to launch such an amazing new product, which brings the Iconic Fox attitude and aggressiveness to the world of trail riding.”

Fox is recommending this helmet is more for all-mountain and enduro riding, although nothing would stop you from using it for downhill, however they do have more protective lids for that.

Right now, we’re out in Cali putting the helmet through its paces and we’ll have a full review coming soon. You can also expect it to feature heavily in the upcoming Ride your F***ing Bike film
