RockShox unveils new Lyrik RC2

Ready to charge

Sam Hill broke all sorts of taboos on his way to winning the EWS –  a downhill convert, in his first full season racing and on flat pedals, unheard of! Also unusual, was that he did it on RockShox.

Since 2013, orange and gold had dominated the men’s EWS field but Sam Hill turned that on his head with the Lyrik and Super Deluxe combo on his Nukeproof Mega. Now maybe we can get some clues as to where that came from as RockShox launch the revamped Lyrik RC2, perfectly suited for the bigger bikes and burlier trails of modern enduro racing.

This is the new Lyrik RC2 and the updated internals, housed in a smart red sleeve will surely make this 100s mainstay an even more enticing proposition for the burlier end of the single crown market.

So what’s new here? We’re looking at an upgrade over the current top-spec Lyrik RC. Added in to the package is the new Charger RC2 damper with independent high and low speed compression settings.

Also new is an improved DebonAir spring that RockShox claim: “The new DebonAir air spring reduces friction from every single moving part, improving bump absorption and response under load, and drastically reducing rider fatigue.” We’re really starting to believe that fatigue plays a huge role in the performance of a bike (as we’ve been banging on about in the Dirty Dozen), we’re really keen to see just how much difference the spring can make.

The final finishing touch is the introduction of shorter offset options for riders following this new school of thought pioneered by Whyte and Transition.

The fork will retail at £989 and is due for release in April.
