Water, wind and fire – Fox releases new winter collection

Ba-de-ya

It’s all gone a bit disco for Fox as they release three clothing ranges for all the elements winter can throw at you –  Water, Wind and Fire (well…cold).

Each bit of clothing has been designed to protect against a hardship of the elements and, given Fox’s history of producing great kit that often makes it into our 100s, we’re pretty certain it will be some top quality stuff.

All the clothing uses the RAP (Rider Attack Position) fit to make them perfect for gravity fed riding, they also all come with high visibility and an eco-friendly, water proof coating. Fox are most proud of their long standing partnership with Cordura and Polartec to bring to the table what they call: “he most performance oriented product offering we have ever created”.

Dave Ahumada, Fox MTB global marketing manager said: “At Fox, we believe the riding doesn’t have to end just because summer does and that some of the best trail conditions happen during and after a storm. The new All Weather Collection offers products designed to keep you dry in the rain, warm in the cold and provide essential coverage for when the weather changes mid ride. A project over two years in the making, we are proud to offer the most advanced apparel products we have ever made as a brand, all designed to allow riders to enjoy the trails all year long”

We’ve got a couple of the jackets on test (read our in-depth feature HERE) but for now let’s take a look at what’s on offer:

Water

The water range is the all bells-and-whistles kit for when it really gets baltic. The range consists of a jacket, shorts and gloves with women’s options available.

There’s a three layer hardshell construction that’s water resistant and breathable across the range. The seams and zips are all sealed and abrasion resistant panels are fitted to give you full protection against the elements.

Basically, no matter what the British weather gods throw at you, this stuff will have an answer, just pack a thermos full of Bovril and you’re ready to saddle up.

Fire

If you’re riding in freezing temperatures then the Fire range will thaw you out – the inner layer of ‘wooly’ Polartec insulation (that we don’t currently have any photos of) is especially nice.

There are only jackets, gilets and trousers on offer so it probably won’t be ideal for a long spin out but this kit still has some water resistance so unless it’s tanking down, this is probably the option you want to go with for downhill riding.

Wind

Wind, as you might have guessed, it’s just a wind-proof layer to keep biting breezes at bay. It’s easily the thinnest of the jackets on offer and can be easily packed away for a quick change on the go for those days where you’re not quite sure if you need it or not.

All in all, pretty cool stuff and a neat concept but, come on, we’re all thinking it…
