SPANK SPIKE RIMS
We got our first glimpse of Spank’s new DH orientated Spike range way back at Eurobike last year, but now it finally looks like it’s going to be available in the shops. First through the office door are these great looking 35mm wide rims, which thanks partly to the use of painted on graphics rather than just stickers have a certain air of quality about them. As with all other Spank rims these feature their unique ‘Ooh Bar’ reverse well design, which increases strength without adding weight, and they’re only available with 32 holes. They are however also available in a 24” version, and you get the choice of either a white or a black finish, or for an extra tenner you can get the uber bling polished chrome version. These particular ones weighed in at 688g which we reckon is bang on the money for this kind of rim. We’ve already got them laced up so we’ll let you know how they score in the long run, but first impressions are definitely promising.
