YT Tues CF Pro

It ticks all the right boxes and is the first bike we penciled in to the Dirt 100

One of the few downhill bikes we have ever ridden that requires no changes straight out of the box. And clearly is a hugely important aspect given its a bike that arrives through direct sales channel rather than conventional bike shop route. After a week testing in Pila, Italy this summer the bike remained unchanged for over a week even with five different riders. What this says is that YT have got it right and that buyers should have no set-up issues demanding anything more than a pump and a set of allen keys.

“The YT is easy to work on, the build quality is good and, well it looks incredible. It ticks pretty much all the right boxes”

For 2016 the Bos suspension front and rear has been replaced with Fox. Whilst this is a shame in some ways at least YT fans are now getting the very best downhill fork of 2016. Previously the Bos suspended bike needed time investing to get the very best out of it but the same applies with Fox, especially that rear damper, however when you hit the sweet spot it’s a good place to be. And as mentioned the 40 from Fox is the best ever.

Fill your boots

Size wise, YT are working on an extra large version of the Tues, which will be a welcome addition to the range, for currently the Tues downhill bikes only work for riders six feet and under whilst they offer a Capra in aluminium with the extra large size.

“This is no cheap off the shelf frame with a load of swanky parts bolted on”

On the hill the Tues has a balanced ride, it’s quiet, it’s lively, it weighs in around the same as most other top end carbon downhill bikes. The YT is easy to work on, the build quality is good and, well it looks incredible. It ticks pretty much all the right boxes. A fact that had led this bike to be our downhill bike of the year on several occasions. Hell, there’s been talk that many of the the worlds top racers now are in a scrum to get riding this bike.

But what are you getting here for your money exactly? Pretty much you are filling your boots. This is no cheap off the shelf frame with a load of swanky parts bolted on, oh no, this is top to bottom, front to back however you want to describe it, ready to rock top-end componentry and chassis. Sram X0DH transmission driven off E13 LG1r cranks and into E13 LG1r wheelset, held in place by a chain guide from the very same people. There’s a full Renthal bar and stem combination, a top end Acros headset, SDG seat and post and it’s shod with finest Maxxis rubber. It’s all there, its all-action, and pretty much hard to fault.

And that’s all before you factor in the price of this bike with impeccable geometry and fine finish. When you consider most other carbon bikes with this specification are nearly all over five thousand and most over six thousand pounds it really does get the head shaking. At this money you can probably get one of the Tue’s stablemates the Capra, plus a trip out to the Alps for the same price as one of the many carbon downhill offerings.
