Mondraker Summum ProTeam Carbon

We all now know, after recent speculation, that Danny Hart will be joining Markus Pekoll, Innes Graham and Emmeline Ragot on the MS Mondraker team next season. Joining the team for three years Danny has a brand new bike to ride and it’s a big shift after 5 years with Giant riding aluminium. We’ve got more coming up on that next week but we know you want to check the new bike out so here it is!

Expect a more detailed look at Danny’s bike in the near future but for now here’s the blurb from Mondraker about the new Summum Pro Carbon:

Press Release

High performance Spanish bicycle manufacturer Mondraker, has given its legendary World Cup winning Summum DH bike an all new carbon fibre heart and, along with 27.5” wheels and Forward Geometry, have created the ultimate downhill race machine.

When the Mondraker Summum first appeared on the start line of the World Cup downhill circuit a new standard in performance was instantly set. Designed purely with podiums in mind the original Summum was constructed around a unique aluminium main frame which delivered a strong, high performance downhill bike which was not only blisteringly fast but offered an overall bike weight thought previously to be more in line with trail bikes!

Fast forward 5 seasons and the 2015 Summum Carbon still shares the same core values as the original race winning machine but with an all new carbon heart crafted into place.

Trying to improve on the high benchmark already set by the original Summum was never going to be easy so Mondraker pulled out all the stops. New bearings, oversized axles and a new lower linkage are located with lightweight yet durable conical expansion bolts for maximum stiffness. At the rear you’ll find Mondraker’s confidence inspiring Zero Suspension System keeping the 205mm of rear wheel travel in check.

Constructed from Stealth Profile carbon fibre the latest Summum draws on everything the Alicante based brand has learned from all their years of World Cup racing and takes into account everything they have learnt in developing their award winning carbon fibre trail and XC race bikes.

The Summum also features Mondraker’s forward thinking, Forward Geometry concept which offers riders more control and stability at all speeds by lengthening the top tube and shortening the bikes stem length. This radical geometry development originally set Mondraker apart from the crowd when it was released several seasons ago and has since gone on to be used in the entire range including the award winning Foxy R which picked up the coveted What Mountain Bike Magazine’s ‘Trail Bike of the Year’ award in 2014.

Mondraker didn’t stop there with the development work – they also had time to give the Summum internal cable routing, integrated fork bumpers, strategically placed rock and chain guards and adjustable geometry.
