Darkfest – reborn

Leaders of the freestyle new school assemble in South Africa

Rather than re-tread the same ground as three Pure Darkness films and last year’s DarkFest, Sam Reynolds has moved his jumps wholesale across South Africa to just outside Cape Town.

The new course is no less of a monster, clinging to a craggy hillside with views over vinyards and the Stellenbosch mountains. Even as Fest series venues go, this one is pretty special.

As for the course itself, well here’s the kind of numbers we’re looking at:

Sam Reynolds, Nico Vink and Clemens Kaudela built the huge set up that will be destroyed by Adolf Silva, Cam Zink, Kyle Strait, Ethan Nell, Nicholi Rogatkin, Carson Storch, Jordie Lunn Brendan Fairclough and Dj Brandt, who all threw down over the weekend.

As the internet isn’t great out there, we’ve only got some warm up shots to show you but expect a full round up later in the week.

Welcome to the new school
Lunn, Nell and Rogatkin contemplate the monster step up - a DarkFest staple
Droppin'! Adolf Silva watches on Rogatkin hits the course. It was cool to see the tech, fmb wizard keep pace with the Fest boys
Silva following Nell on a silky, early morning cruiser
What a place!
Jordie Lunn took a heavy fall on day one
But bounced right back up to send another day
Just a casual 90 foot flip from Adolf SIlva
Carson Storch going vertical on a flat spin 3
DJ Brandt also took a nasty fall but thankfully is all good now
Builder's got skills. Clemens Kaudela shows off his flip tuck
We're used to seeing him blow minds on a hardtail but Rogatkin looks pretty damn good on a dh bike too
The long walk to freeride... maybe not
Different continent same outcome, Nico surveys yet another of his mad creations
Then lays down the most stylish t-bog in the southern Hemisphere
Not to be outdone, Reynolds with a super steeze whip
Full stoke in Swindonbosch
Bosh - Super Ren
Lyle showing the young 'uns how it used to be done
Bruh...
Carson Storch laying it flat
90 foot gaps - no problem, 2 foot putts on the other hand...

Warm up out of the way, keep it tuned to Dirt for more DarkFest content over the next few days…
