Reigning Junior World Champion, newly crowned National Champion and set to represent Great Britain at the elite level at the 2018 World Champs. At just 19 years old Matt Walker boasts a wealth of accolades that belie his age and the lad from Shropshire is fast becoming the jewel in the UK's crown.
After spending last season going toe-to-toe with Finn Iles, Matt has transitioned seamlessly into the elite field and this season couldn't have started any better. Victory at the opening round of the National Series in Cwmcarn was a warning signal. A 7th-place finish in Fort William and an 11th in Vallnord confirmed what we suspected; the success as a junior was only a sign of things to come.
You'd be forgiven for thinking that this success might go to his head, but that's not the Matt Walker way. A product of the Madison Saracen development team, Matt's not getting ahead of himself and has his feet firmly grounded. Now teammates with Danny Hart and with one of the slickest setups in the business supporting him, you can't help but think that Matt has the world at those grounded feet and he's showing no signs of letting up.
For the latest Bulletproof talent, we linked up with Matt at Hopton. Why Hopton? Because if you're fast there you're fast anywhere. Watching Matt close-up is an experience, to say the least. Understated on a bike, even languid at times; Matt does one thing and one thing only, absolutely rip. As the results keep coming and the accolades continue to pile up; expect to see a lot more of Matt Walker.
