The lightest, most expensive but also one of the best ebikes going
In the last few years we really have seen brands step up their game when it comes to e-bikes. The Pivot Shuttle is not only the most expensive EMTB we’ve had through the Dirt office doors but also the lightest at just under 20Kg.
'There are only a few brands that compare to the quality that has been shown here on the Pivot Shuttle.'
It’s packed full of tech too, as you would expect at this price, with Shimano Steps E-8000 power, di2 electronic gear shifting and a battery that’s integrated neatly into the frame’s downtube. Clean looks, lightweight construction and a parts list that only needs a tweak here and there to suit your personal tastes.
It’s full carbon for the frame too and as we have seen with Pivot’s recent trail bikes - the Firebird in particular – the finish and build is top drawer. There are only a few brands that compare to the quality that has been shown here on the Pivot Shuttle.
But it’s the geometry of the Firebird that was also the blueprint for the Shuttle, giving this e-bike a shape and purpose on the trail that is enhanced by its category leading low weight. Pivot has really got the Shuttle dialled in with geometry and sizing that not only compliments the climb but also allows for some real purpose on the descent.
'Pivot has shown just what can be done when it comes do designing and producing a cutting-edge e-bike'
With a 65.8° head angle and 437mm rear chainstays there’s more than enough stability to keep the Shuttle on track when things get out of hand. The high volume 27.5"x2.8" tyres mounted to broad 40mm wide DT rims add traction and stability as well as a good dose of comfort to the ride, soaking up trail chatter well.
With the lack of fatigue on the climbs and the comfort of the plus-sized tyres, we can guarantee if you are fit you will run out of battery before you want to get off this thing
The Shuttle uses a Shimano motor and the smooth delivery of power is obvious from the get go. Switch the bike into Boost mode on challenging climbs and there is no issue with getting the Pivot up there – the sorted shape and sizing of the Shuttle helps get the body position correct to keep things moving.
With the Shuttle, Pivot has shown just what can be done when it comes to designing and producing a cutting-edge e-bike. A bike that is not only a blast to ride but one that is exceptionally polished both in terms of construction and detailing.
