FOX TRANSFER SEATPOST

The original Fox DOSS dropper seatpost was an incredibly reliable and well made piece of equipment. Typical of Fox, this post was serviceable, rebuildable and reliable. The Transfer keeps these qualities but in a completely new design.

With a three position stroke over 125mm and with a cable operation, the only real criticisms of the original DOSS post were the bulky two-lever control and the lack of internal routing as an option.

It’s been a long wait, but the arrival of the Transfer post from Fox came last year at a time when the choice of droppers increased hugely, leading to a need to get out and test all these new designs.

With a history of mixed reliability and short lifespans, many brands didn’t spark our enthusiasm for their next new model. It was different with the Fox post – at a time when their forks are back at the top of their game we were intrigued to find out just how the Transfer differed from the previous DOSS post.

‘The Fox Transfer is an intuitive post to use and one we took to straight away’

This all-new Transfer post now features an infinitely adjustable design with the choice of internal or external cable routing and three drop options of 100mm, 125mm or 150mm. Fox make two very neat lever designs (which are sold separately to the post), one for single ring transmissions and one to sit well with a left-hand gear shifter. It covers a lot of bases for both newer and older bikes. Fox offer the Transfer post at two price points – a Performance model, with a black upper shaft, and the Factory level option with the Kashima gold finish.

Fitting of our internally routed post was easy. With the cable nipple fixing at the base of the post, the tension and securing is done at the lever. The Transfer post can be removed from the frame without tools, and without frustration too…

Out on the trail this Fox post operates in a very smooth and controllable manner. A low lever force and good modulation make it easy to regulate return speed and make small height adjustments. This is an area where all but the best droppers tend to struggle, with an inconsistent feel and often a return speed that is either too fast or a touch sluggish.

The Fox Transfer is an intuitive post to use and one we took to straight away. Fox quality through and through, with a great action and a superb finish. We feel this post will perform well in the long term and is without question a sound investment.
