Yet again this is the lowest priced bike in this year’s Dirt 100 and now in its third generation the Calibre Bossnut is still unbelievable value. This is a trail bike that offers an inspiring ride along with up-to-date sizing and a very complete specification. There are plenty of these bikes out on the trails and for very good reason.

The original Bossnut was a hit in the Dirt 100 and was soon followed by the V2 model with a longer reach in the frame and some spec revisions. We approved and last year there were very few competitors to this bike – it was the ‘go to’ full suspension bike at this price point. With up to date geometry and sizing and a very complete spec it was a blast to ride and could keep pace with bikes at over twice its price.

‘The Bossnut was a hugely important mountain bike when it was launched and now this Evo version moves it up to another level’

The team at Calibre have not been idle however and for 2018 we have this new Evo version of the Bossnut. So, what’s new? The frame was revised on the Bossnut V2, so it’s the spec sheet that’s had the attention here. WTB Trail Boss 2.25" tyre at the rear. A wider 780mm Kore bar is a welcome sight as is routing for an internally routed dropper post. All these upgrades should help you push the Calibre just that bit nearer its limits.

The drivetrain and brakes have not been overlooked either. The double chainset has gone and a 1x11 SRAM NX gear system is now standard along with Shimano’s reliable and powerful MT500 brakes.

Calibre has taken an already great bike with an affordable price tag and really fine-tuned the spec – it’s another winner!
