DT FR2350 Wheelset

I don’t know if the ‘F’ stands for flash, but DT have definitely gone to town on this new wheelset of theirs. Many of you though will no doubt be pleased to hear that beneath the poncy new exterior lies something far more conventional.
For starters there’s almost 32, more about that in a bit, conventional spokes, so unlike many other top-end wheel sets, both the rim and spokes can be easily replaced even if you happen to be stuck in Timbuktu! As for the spokes, I said ‘almost’ because it would be unjust to simply refer to these Alpine III triple butted spokes as conventional. Of course, you could in future use any other spokes, but quality can make a massive difference, and these are perfect for the sort of hard riding these wheels are likely to see. At the far end of these you’ll find the custom coloured FR6.1D rim, these have received a slight tweakage in both material and design since the last time we saw them, we’re promised improved ‘ding’ resistance, let‘s hope they‘re right. On that note, I’ve just been informed that these rims have a 2 year warranty, and as part of that they’ll replace any rim that’s been damaged during ‘normal’ riding. We know that can be a bit of a grey area, but still, that’s a bloody good offer. At the centre of these wheels you’ll find a pair of DT’s 440 hubs, let’s just say these are exceptionally good, and light as a feather. DT have always had perfection as a goal, and it’s no surprise to find out that each and every wheel is built with all the care and attention that the three components deserve, so much so that they even come complete with a certificate stating that the build is tested to DT exacting standards. This obviously all comes at a price, but when you consider that just the rims and hubs alone would normally set you back about £470, then £495 with spokes, build, wheel bags, spoke key, QR’s, and axle converters, somehow starts to look like a bargain.
