The release of two new lids from Endura marks a somewhat logical next step for the Scottish clothing company. It must have been a couple of years ago now that we first saw them start making knee pads and the like to go along with their well proven riding kit, and now it seems that they’ve decided to extend their ‘protection’ range by offering helmets as well.

To start out with Endura are offering just two lids; the road orientated Airshell, and this Snype trail lid which is the one that we’re interested in.
With a claimed weight of 220g it’s certainly light, yet there looks to be good coverage at the rear. At the back you’ll also find the “easy to use, one hand micro-adjustment” which can be further tweaked to three different height positions in order to fully fine-tune the fit. Talking of fit, with three sizes on offer most riders should be catered for.
The antibacterial, fast wicking, easily removable padding is all washable and Endura have even decided to include a full set of spare pads. As if that wasn’t good enough, if you buy one of these quickly enough you might even get yourself one of the rather fancy ‘Helmet Pods’ thrown in. This is very much a limited offer though so if you want one you’d better act fast.
Looks wise the graphics are all fairly understated, but we kind of like that and we wouldn’t expect anything less from Endura. As for the shape, in general we like that too but the slightly angular look on top at the front has split opinions. According to Endura’s managing director, Jim McFarlane the reasoning behind this shape is as follows… “It helps with the strength to weight ratio for EN1078 crash testing (which is part of the reason the helmet is so light), and we like the look of it”.
What else? Oh yeah, the peak is removable but not adjustable, there a whole pile of air vents and flow channels to help keep your head cool, and Endura will be kindly offering a crash replacement policy. The best bit of news though…it’s got a bargain price tag!
