Leogang World Cup 2014
If you spent yesterday watching the race then you will be ready to relive it in photo format! Laurence Crossman-Emms has done a sterling job and pumped out a massive 45 shot gallery from finals day.
We all know that the big news was Josh Bryceland taking his first World Cup win but the Brits had a great weekend overall. Manon Carpenter took the Wome’s race and maintains her leaders jersey and her Saracen Team also took the top spot in the team points to finish off a great weekend. Aaron Gwin lost his tyre during his race run but talks positively about future races and seems confident going into Mont Saint Anne after the season break we are going into now.
Laurence chatted to Loic Bruni about his run too, clearly disappointed Bruni knew he was on the pace all weekend winning qualifying but a slip going too tight on the last bend put him out of the running.
Troy Brosnan came in hot to the dry track in Leogang on the back of his win in Fort William but couldn’t pull another win. What he did do was 3rd and that was enough to take the overall leaders jersey from team mate Aaron Gwin, it might have been a bit big for him but going into MSA his season bucket list must be fast getting ticked off.
Greg Minnaar also laid down a solid run that sees him coming back to form after being out of the points for much of this season so far. After winning Worlds here Minnaar knows how to go fast in Austria but losing out to Josh won’t have hurt too bad, that and the fact a chopper was waiting to whisk him off to a fancy dinner in London!
It was a bloody great race in Leogang and going into a few weeks off riders will be refocussing and coming back in Mont Sainte Anne with renewed vigour. It will be a tough nut to crack from Brosnan but he should be flying high.
