The black stuff has woven itself into the very fabric of downhill bikes in recent years and the number of riders winning races on carbon and resin is going up. Handle bars are a different matter all together and taking the step into this market marks a turning point for Renthal.
If you want to see the bars in action then check out the video from Ninth Cloud as Neil Donoghue literally blasts his way down the trails.
After an in depth R&D process Renthal have come up with a light bar that is claimed to have the perfect balance between weight, strength, stiffness and feel. The 740mm wide bar comes in at 180g. When they arrive in the office we will get them strapped to a bike and tell you whats what. The FatBar Lite will set you back a penny shy of £130 so they may not be cheap but if you love the weave then these could be the bars for you.
Renthal have always offered a range of different bar heights to suit different riding styles and the new FatBar Lite Carbon is no exception. With the 7deg backsweep and 5deg upsweep running through the whole range there are options of 10, 20, 30 and 40mm rises.
