Lew Buchanan and Joe Connell join SC-Intense for 2013

SC-Intense bolster their 2013 World Cup team with some fast, young Scottish talent. Lew Buchanan moves over from CRC and is joined by fellow Scot and 2012 Junior National Champ and ex-Zerode rider Joe Connell.

The team also includes two Swiss National Champions Miriam Ruchti and Lars Peyer and a promising young Junior, Joel Andrey.

Missing from the 2012 team are Florent Payet and Josh Button.

And are they all going to be riding 650b bikes? Ruchti and Peyer certainly are.

Also notable on the sponsor list is Turbo Spoke, the strap-on-instant-Moto-noise-exhaust-pipe-machine. Should be good for some extra speed.

Lewis Buchanan is ready for the fresh start:

“I’m pumped to have signed with the SC-Intense team this year. Fresh start , clean slate, and I’ve got the support to get the job done!”

“We’re really excited to have Lew on board for 2013. He’s had his ups and downs the past few seasons with a few injuries but he’s coming back with a vengeance to show us all just what’s lurking inside” says Team Manager Gery Peyer.

Also making the team is fellow Scot Joe Connell:

Joe says:

“Joining the SC-Intense team for 2013 is a great step for me. I am very excited to be racing on a team with a professional attitude and a great support program. I’m really looking forward to racing on the Intense M9 and I have a lot of confidence in all the components and parts that we are going to be racing on. Next year is my first elite season and I am looking forward to building on my previous WC experience and racing on some awesome tracks with Lewis, Miri, Lars and Joel. I can’t wait to get racing again!”

Back again will be the reigning National Champs Miriam Ruchti and Lars Peyer.

Miri will be out for the IXS overall win and a podium spot at the World Cups this coming season and Lars is setting his sights on IXS podiums and WC finals. Both are really looking forward to be on their new Pacenti / Schwalbe equipped 27.5 Intense M9s.

“After testing and comparing the new 650b wheels to the standard 26” wheels I’ve got to say I’m hooked!”

Notes Lars after competing on the 650b wheels at the last 4 races of the season with great results.

2013 marks the return of a top Junior racer into the SC-Intense team. Joel Andrey from Switzerland, a young talent who has the size and strength to man-handle any mountain set in front of him. Joel will race select World Cup events and all the IXS Euro Cups, picking up speed and experience from the other riders on the team. Welcome!

Team Manager Gery Peyer says:

“It’s great to be working together with such a fun and talented group of riders. I hope that we can help each of the racers to achieve what they are aiming for!
All this would not be possible without the fantastic support of the following new and returning sponsors of the SC-Intense team:

• Intense Cycles
• Alpinestars Protection and Clothing
• FOX Racing Shox
• SRAM Drivetrain
• Formula Brakes
• Schwalbe Tyres
• Pacenti Rims
• Scott Goggles / Eyewear
• Gamut USA
• Nukeproof Components
• Bluegrass / MET Helmets
• Garmont Shoes
• Panolin Oils
• Marsh Guard
• Turbo Spoke
and the fantastic support from the Lindenhof Hospital, Bern as our Medical Partner

Happy Holidays to all from the SC-Intense crew and wishing all a successful and injury free 2013!

well if they are going to sell the bikes with bigger wheels they are going to have to prove them so they may as well get people racing….how long until others follow suit?

  3. Big Bird

Will they be running the prototype inverted Fox forks, or will 650′s fit in a 40?
