2012 Dirt 100: Maxxis High Roller II 3C

With competition coming in from all directions we weren’t sure who was eventually going to knock the High Roller off its ‘number one DH tyre’ spot, but it turns out that it was Maxxis themselves with this revised version.

The differences are subtle, but then again there wasn’t really much to improve upon. There has been some change in the shape of the blocks, but we think it’s the spacing of them that has probably made the biggest change in their performance. Basically the level of grip from upright to fully leant over is now more constant than ever, plus they also seem to clear a little better too. The 3C compound is as good as ever too with its mix of fast rolling (and longer lasting) rubber and softer tackier stuff in the places where you really need it.

Not cheap, but we reckon they’re worth it.

Price: £58.99

    How much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

£58.99 is for the 3c versions. £47.99 for the supertacky or 60a ones.
this is the same for all Maxxis DH tyres!!

it used to cost £25 quid a tyre for a 2.5 inch super tacky high roller just 2 or 3 yrs ago, the price of these tyres is the reason we are starting to see alot more tyres from other brands out on the trails, i just bought the spesh equivelent to this for £28 from my lbs and im more than happy with my purchase. maxxis take note!

@ Fordy, a couple of years ago VAT was 15% and pounds were more than 2:1 against the dollar.
Now it’s 20% and 1.6:1. Imported stuff is more expensive! Anyway, you can get 3C tyres for £45 and dualies for under £35 without trying too hard, paying rrp is for chumps. The price hasn’t gone up that much and it’s still a ton cheaper than Swchwalbes.

Hancock, you forgot to add that these are the best in the world.

You need to compare the Specialized butcher against this tyre and you may just change your views on the high roller been number 1
