2013 Dirt 100: YT Wicked 160 TLD

07:00 24th December 2012 by Billy Thackray

Another offering from YT that has everyone that rides mountain bikes scratching their heads, not least those who also make them. The Wicked 160 is the only bike in its class that can better the Nukeproof Mega for value.

Absolutely oozing cool, this bike comes complete with the much sought after Mavic Crossmax SX wheelset, something that you’d normally be lucky to find on a bike costing twice as much as this Wicked. However, add to that the sublime BOS shock and forks, XO brakes and mech, and a RockShox Reverb stealth and you will find yourself checking that crazy price again and again. A large part of the saving comes from cutting out the middleman so you will have to purchase online from Germany, but with the money saved over a similar build from any other brand you could enter yourself into the Mega Avalanche, the Trans Provence, the British Gravity Enduro series, and probably take a holiday too!

Crazy price tag aside, this bike does ride well too, it’s fun, functional and versatile. YT seem to have every base covered, there’s no faulting Young Talent Industries.

Got one at home along with a Wicked 150 and they are amazing. You’d be mad to be spending big money on the likes of Trek and Specialized when this bike is around!

  2. Leon

3000 euros ?!?!? Insane pricing , that is exactly the type of bike I wanna get too , shame I aint got no where near 3k euros though…

  3. Diego Bustillos

Now this makes a lot of sense, if only it had 170mm

    1. Steve

      ummm try the wicked170 model??

      1. Diego Bustillos

        Not the same spec

      2. scott

look at the YT site, 2013 model comes with 170 front, I wonder if they’ll let me send mine back so I can get the new paint job.

  4. Jeff

nice spec definitely! But, if you did enter yourself in the Mega, you would want to be looking for a different (less exposed) cable routing, and getting rid of the flimsy Bionicon Chainguide (presumably it does have ISCG tabs?)

    1. Diego Bustillos

I agree although routing on the mojo hd is the same though

    2. Timo

Yes it has the ISCG tabs BUT! they are the Old type!, i just found out, cos i ordered and bassguard/chainguid and took the cranks off, was defendly expecting it to have the newer ones. What a bummer, now i have to send the chainguid back to swap it.
