Eurobike

The four-day Eurobike international bicycle trade fair has been held annually since 1991 in September in the grounds of the Messe Friedrichshafen exhibition centre in Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. The first three days of the event are exclusively for the trade, but members of the public are allowed in on the fourth and final day.

A day before the indoor exhibition starts, a Demo Day has been held outside of Friedrichshafen in nearby Argenbühl every year since 2007, giving trade visitors and journalists the opportunity of test riding some of the latest products that vendors will be displaying at the show. For 2014, the Demo Day will be moved to the site of the exhibition itself, making things much easier logistically for both visitors and exhibitors.

According to organisers, 45,200 trade visitors from 111 countries attended the 22nd Eurobike show in 2013, plus 1,883 journalists from 45 countries and an additional 20,400 bike fans on public day. German Chancellor Angela Merkel opened the event, and almost 300 product launches were tested by visitors to the Demo Day.

Every year, winners of the Eurobike Awards are announced at the exhibition, rewarding companies and organisations that focus on the development and design of bicycles and cycling accessories, from mountain bikes and special bikes to individual components, clothing and accessories. In 2013, the gold award in the mountain bike category was given to the carbon 29er RIP 9 RDO from American company Niner Bikes.
