Ghost

German bike brand Ghost is based in the town of Waldsassen in northern Bavaria. It was founded in 1993 by Klaus Moehwald and Uwe Kalliwoda, and now offers a range of road, city, hybrid, cyclocross and mountain bikes, including cross country, all-mountain, enduro, freeride and downhill models, either hardtails or with full suspension.

One of the most popular series in the Ghost range is the all-mountain AMR RIOT, including the Lector 5, Lector 7 and Lector 9. The bikes feature 27.5 inch wheels and the revolutionary RIOT-LINK rear suspension system, which uses a ‘floating shock’ controlled from two sides – the upper rocker controls the first 80% of the travel, while the lower rocker kicks in on the last 20% of travel.

The two bikes in its downhill series are the DH7000 and the top-of-the-line DH9000, both featuring 26 inch wheels, a super lightweight and tunable chassis, Four Bar Linkage rear suspension system, and a ‘Bogey Roll’ idler pulley to mitigate the effects of the high main pivot placement on pedalling. The DH9000 is the working tool of Ghost team rider and World Cup professional Johannes Fischbach.

German star Fischbach is the lead rider in Ghost’s RRP Downhill Team, finishing in ninth place at the Downhill World Championships in Pietermaritzburg in 2013, and winning the invitational 2013 City Downhill in Prague. Other members of the team are Brit Harry Molloy and Austrian rider David Trummer.
